Cute moments...and the not-so-cute

Eli is now alternating between unbelievably cute moments and some really uncute moments. He just loves bathtime, although he's decided his goal is to splash all of the water out of the tub. He also really likes climbing the stairs, as he has for some time, but he's gotten much better at crawling back down the bottom couple stairs too. I made a raspberry noise to get his attention for the above snapshot, so he turned around and raspberried back at me.
He's started using a gesture like he's popping cheerios in his mouth when he wants food. I haven't made any real effort to teach him signs, so I was a little surprised to figure out that really was what he meant. He hasn't started the infamous toddler "no" stage yet, but he's warming up with vigorous head-shaking to make his refusal known.
Last night his Nana was Eli-sitting and he was reading books on the floor of his room. She said "ok, time for bed!" and he shook his head no and crawled out of the room. After she foiled his escape plan he just went right to sleep.
But, along with all these cute moments have been times of crying fits and absolute refusal to cooperate with diaper changes and naps. His first molars have been coming in for a while, and he's drooling up a flood, so I'm blaming some of this on teething. He's also always been squirmy and a bit of a drama king, which just adds to his fits. He's never been a great napper at home, and we thought we'd finally conquered that problem a few months ago, but then the holidays and lots of busy weekends made it impossible to be home in his crib for naptime consistently, so now he's gone back to crying it out for an hour or more and then only sleeping for half an hour or so. Then he wakes up extra cranky from having such a short nap. Justin has been gone a lot the past couple weekends, so it has been especially not fun. Not exactly relaxing quality family time. And then comes Monday morning...

Let us know when Justin is gone--esp. on the weekends, we're happy to help care for Eli, or give you a break--a playdate would be great for Eddie and Eli.
