Where did March go? We were traveling in various combinations for most of the month. Lena has now visited 7 airports in one month.
In the beginning of the month, Lena and I flew down to Tampa FL to visit my aunt, grandma and cousins on my dad's side for a night. Then we took the train from Tampa to Jacksonville, FL to visit Justin's aunt&uncle and grandmother. His cousins and his mom&Ed also joined, so the house was pretty full. Justin & Eli rode the train from home to Jacksonville overnight which Eli enjoyed. Justin and his uncle ran the annual 15k race, everyone had fun playing with the kids, and we celebrated Justin's birthday. Lena and I flew back into Baltimore, transited our way home, and I started a new job (actually a one-year rotational assignment).
Then the next week Justin & Eli flew to San Francisco to visit Justin's sister over Easter. Eli enjoyed the flights, mostly because of VirginAmerica's tv consoles as well as DVDs on Justin's laptop. Eli had an absolute blast in the Bay area. He still loves transportation, so he got to ride on BART subway, cable cars, MUNI bus, light rail, and the Sausalito ferry. He also got to visit the children's museums in Berkley and San Jose. Justin got his fix of House of Nanking (our favorite Chinese restaurant ever) and he brought me back a bag of my favorite coffee (Peets Sumatra Decaf). Meanwhile, Lena and I visited with Justin's aunt & uncle who were in town for a visit (his uncle had a conference in town) and otherwise had a quiet Easter weekend, with dinner at my parents' house.
The following week Lena and I flew to Minnesota, where we are now. Yes, it is cold, but not significantly colder than home has been recently. We spent the weekend visiting my friend's parents in Bemidji, 4 hours north of Minneapolis. The rest of the time we've been visiting friends here in Minneapolis and generally enjoying a lazy week. We got 5 inches of snow yesterday so everything is pretty and white now. We go home in two more days, but we've enjoyed some great meals at local organic cafes (Birchwood and Common Roots) and we got to tour my friend's ceramics studio yesterday.
No more trips planned until Memorial Day, so I can settle into my new job and the kids can get back into their routine.
